After several hours of delay, the passengers of a Ryanair flight Toulouse-Marrakech seized the plane in annoyance. After a hectic night, they finally left on another flight the next day.
Arriving at the boarding gate, the passengers of the Ryanair flight Toulouse-Marrakech have been waiting for several hours.
They are only a few meters from the plane that is supposed to take them to the Moroccan city, but the plane remains grounded in Toulouse-Blagnac.
While the plane was scheduled to take off at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, no information was provided to travelers, La Dépêche du Midi reports. “They had nothing to drink or eat. Some had to wait for the fire brigade to come to give them a few bottles”, says a witness who worked at the airport that night. Tired of waiting, the passengers become annoyed and start a confrontation with the airport teams. “Some wanted to go home, others asked for hotel rooms. From 4 a.m. they really started to get annoyed”he says.
“The 177 angry passengers came out the emergency doors and headed for the plane. They were out of control, it was panic. Some entered the plane. They went straight into the cockpit and touched the controls. They took the plane held hostage pending resolution”continues the witness.
Different versions delivered
It took until 7:30 am for calm to return after several talks between travelers and the airport team. “This is not the first time we have encountered interference. For more than a week, especially for Ryanair, we have seen several passengers abandoned.”says the ramp agent at Toulouse-Blagnac airport.
Contacted by La Dépêche du Midi, the airport teams gave different versions. “There was confusion in the nervousness. For families and children, a delayed flight is not necessarily very comfortable. There were real tensions and it is true that some passengers got access to the ‘plane’admits Alain de La Meslière Director of Operations.
There remains a question about access to the cockpit. “The pilot and co-pilot were on board, so the passengers could not enter this area. The situation calmed down when the passengers understood that they would have a new flight at 10:30 am the next day.”says Alain de La Mesliere.
